* Gab's Gold medal win in Elite Open sparring qualifies her to
compete on Sunday in World Class sparring
Team
Chambliss added 4 more medals to our overall medal count with Nicolle Carbon's
Gold medal in forms, Gab Kula's Gold medal in Elite Open sparring, Will Fazio's
Silver medal in Elite Open sparring and Paige Aguirre's Silver medal in Elite
Open sparring. The day got off to a rather slow start with most of our
forms competitors finishing 4th or 5th in their divisions, until Nicolle won the
first Gold of the day. Since today's competitors were 12 and older, head kicks
were the call of the day. Will had a couple nice ones in his first match
as the final score of 8-1 shows, and so did Julia who won her match 12-8 against
a girl from Minnesota. Both realized how valuable a head kick can be when
it's worth a couple extra points. Gab's Gold medal win in Elite Open
sparring qualifies her to compete on Sunday in World Class. Sunday is the
final day of Junior Olympics and promises to be one of our busiest days with 8
competing in forms, 8 competing in Elite Open sparring and 4 competing in World
Class sparring.
